New international promotion channels are bringing massive interest to the event. 900 unique visitors, 400 Facebook followers, 1,800 Youtube views and all this in the last 4 weeks. And with the support of Simrace.tv even more top class sim-racers, will be introduced to the event.
With all this attention comming in, we have to take meassures and set a clear limit on the number of teams we can handle. The current location limits the capacity to 24 teams. And to prevent over-booking of one class, a maximum of 15 cars will be accepted in any class.
Admission will be granted on a first-come, first-servered basis. The first teams to pay their admission fee, will be the first teams accepted. When 24 are approved, the signup will close. Remaining teams will be on the reserve list. Reserve teams will be notified if paying teams forfeit, in the order of first signed up.
3 weeks has gone by since the testing weekend, and the last big update. Since then we have noticed a handful of smaller bugs that needed fixing
Two things:
Firstly, given that the facebook page has gained over a 130 “likers” in just a couple of weeks, this year’s running of GTR24H seems to have gained a lot of interest. Also the early acceptance of quite a few teams, indicates that this years grid is going to be big. Some new teams have shown up, sporting drivers all the way from Belgium and France, but at the same time we are still missing some “usual supects” from the grid, whom we are sure are going to compete again this year! We are very excited about the prospect of a packed starting grid!
In other news, work is being done for a livestream of the race to be set up. This means people anywhere in the world who are not competing can follow the action. Details about this, exciting matter, will show up later. In the meantime, it does implicate that we have to make sure that we can get some good raw footage for the “TV guys”. That means our camera file, that was in serious need of an overhaul, has been reworked. A small video about this, showcasing the new camera-set has been put together. You can watch this below.
All in all, things right now are looking bright. With many new strategic challenges, lots of cars, updates to the circuit and an ever evolving community around the race, this promises to be the most exciting running of GTR24H yet.
This year is the 5th anniversary for GTR24h and the event has evolved constantly. This years event will most likely be the swan song of GTR2 and we aim to leave it at the top. The rules will be extended to include two classes and engine wear. The two classes will result in higher closing speeds and more overtaking. Engine wear will will introduce new strategic challenges, since it will be possible to sacrifice durability for faster lap times. The new and much faster LMP class will set the demands for good setups even higher.
This year the event is being promoted even more then ever before. This has already resulted in the interest of a handful of teams with international top drivers., which is set to make the competition in the LMP class very intense. On top of that, it looks like last years winners Team DGTL and the increadibly experienced team CJM & Vadgaard, will still be fielding cars in the GT class. Everything looks to be set for the biggest and toughest GTR24h race ever.
“The tough competition make GTR24h seem like quite a mouthful. But Team DGTL wants to do something about that. We run practice nights every Thursday night all the way up to the event. While we practice we will answer all questions. We will help with setups and share our settings and tips. We will help with MoTeC, data read-outs on cars and explain the physics numbers on the cars. In short we will help with everything from tire choice to data analysis.”

New followers, finished car pack, videos and general information – Podcast
In the light of gaining 60+ followers in a week on our Facebook page, it was suggested that some general information and a little update would be in good order.

Second, last weekends carpack test was a succes. We managed to clear all known bugs on the LMP cars. And we found older bugs in the GT cars, that related to gear ratios and other car specific details. Everything was cleared out. If you find there are other bugs, please leave a comment to this post.
Right now the rules are undergoing changes. The result of the changes are yet to be published. But sign up for the newsletter, and you will recieve news on the changes as soon as they are ready. The changes that are being considered at the moment, amongst others include:
