With 9 days until the event, we are getting seriously close to this years running of the race! We now give you a deadline for a couple of tasks.

Get Painting!

This next deadline is:

Tuesday the 25th of October!

On or before this date your team must have accomplished the following things:

  • Firstly – if you intend to run in a custom paintjob / skin, we need to have your teams’ skin(s) available to us no later than this date. To submit your skin, we prefer you compress / “zip” your .psd files and then send them to the email skins.gtr24h@gmail.com . Alternately you can contact me (LasseJO) on the forums, and send me a link of your uploaded files, if they are too big. (gmail accepts attachments of up to 25MB) We will then process and pack the skin and it will be uploaded to the Package Downloader ASAP.
  • &nbps;

  • Secondly – this date is your last chance to decide or change which car you plan to race in. After this date it is not possible for you to enter a different car, than the one we have registered in the “Sign up your team!” thread, in the forums! Therefore – if the car on the list in the forum page is not the one you intend to race, give us a shout!
  • &nbps;

  • Lastly – this date is also your last chance to qualify your teams’ drivers for an LMP car. All the drivers of an LMP car, need to be qualified on this date, for the car entry to be qualified to enter the race! If all your drivers aren’t qualified you have a couple of options:

    • 1: Remove the unqualifed driver from the driver lineup
    • 2: Change the teams entry to a GT1 car, where no qualifacation is required.

All in all – we are looking a lot forward to this years’ event! We haven’t seen quite as many entries as we’d hoped, but it is none the less still the biggest and most international field in the events’ history!

Two things:

Firstly, given that the facebook page has gained over a 130 “likers” in just a couple of weeks, this year’s running of GTR24H seems to have gained a lot of interest. Also the early acceptance of quite a few teams, indicates that this years grid is going to be big. Some new teams have shown up, sporting drivers all the way from Belgium and France, but at the same time we are still missing some “usual supects” from the grid, whom we are sure are going to compete again this year! We are very excited about the prospect of a packed starting grid!

In other news, work is being done for a livestream of the race to be set up. This means people anywhere in the world who are not competing can follow the action. Details about this, exciting matter, will show up later. In the meantime, it does implicate that we have to make sure that we can get some good raw footage for the “TV guys”. That means our camera file, that was in serious need of an overhaul, has been reworked. A small video about this, showcasing the new camera-set has been put together. You can watch this below.

All in all, things right now are looking bright. With many new strategic challenges, lots of cars, updates to the circuit and an ever evolving community around the race, this promises to be the most exciting running of GTR24H yet.

  • Here is the video that shows the new cameraset.

New followers, finished car pack, videos and general information – Podcast

In the light of gaining 60+ followers in a week on our Facebook page, it was suggested that some general information and a little update would be in good order.

First of all, we hope it is clear enough that the GTR24h event is a LAN event. You have to physically show up in Kolding, Denmark on the 29th-30th of October 2011. You can read more about the event details here. Sign-up is done by submitting a post with team and driver names and car choice here in the forums

Second, last weekends carpack test was a succes. We managed to clear all known bugs on the LMP cars. And we found older bugs in the GT cars, that related to gear ratios and other car specific details. Everything was cleared out. If you find there are other bugs, please leave a comment to this post.

Right now the rules are undergoing changes. The result of the changes are yet to be published. But sign up for the newsletter, and you will recieve news on the changes as soon as they are ready. The changes that are being considered at the moment, amongst others include:

  • A second LMP class with seperate driver entry requirements. You can see the qualified LMP drivers here: http://simutils.dk/timing/output/consecutives/LM24HRE_GTR24H2010.html
  • Inclution of mechanical faliures. Steps are being taken to make sure all teams have the same information level regarding engine wear.
Mechanical faliures will also introduce things like brake disc and clutch wear, suspension damage. All fixable in the pits.
The rule changes will also increase areo damage sensitivity and in general should bring even more strategical challenges and realism.

Finally there are two new videos:

  • To show the differences and similarities of the GTR24h Le Mans track and the real world Le Mans Track, this video was made
  • And to explain slip curves/angles, grip levels and tire wear, this video was created focusing on the three different GT tire brands

We hope to see you at the event from 28th of October 2011

With less than 2 days until this year’s biggest GTR2 event, 12 cars and over 60 race drivers and race engineers are finalizing preparations for a 24-hour race on the famous Le Mans circuit. Friday at 18.30 free practice and signing-in starts, Saturday at 11.00 qualifying starts and from Saturday 14.00 until Sunday 13.00 (due to wintertime) the actual race is held.

If you are interested in virtual endurance racing, but you didn’t manage to compete yourself this year, why not come by and talk to the organizers and teams, and perhaps prepare yourself for next year?! Note that spectators are of course welcome at the venue, but they are not permitted to stay during the night (due to local regulations). The venue address is: Stubdrupvej 44, 6000 Kolding, Denmark. See you there!

GTR24h has allways used a saftycar for race start and for restarts. This year we will be using the Corvette C6 Safetycar. Download the GTR24h version here:

A slightly updated Le Mans version has been made for GTR24h. Here is a list of changes:

  • Corrected wet-line. The line that AI’s race on wet track and the line that dries up when rain stops is no longer just in the center of track. Track will now actually dry in the racing line first
  • Reduced number of rain reflection objects to further reduce texture flicker in headlights
  • Tarmac reflection is incorperated
  • Grass multimap textures and bump maps added
  • New HAT properties to help reduce texture flicker in headlights
  • Corrected textures for pit fuel rig
  • Longer and darker night
  • New “real” movie for the jumbotrons
  • Change of clipplanes for TV cams, to help reduce texture flicker in headlights
  • New textures for selected buildings and lamp posts.
  • Excessive groove-alpha caused tire marks to disappear mid turn during qualifying and race sessions.
  • Added bus-lane textures and materials to the Mulsanne straight to more properly reflect the real life.

We have been forced to obscure the download options, so you will have to look to the forums, to find download links for the latest version
